Chinese translations needed

Hi! I contact you as you speak English and Chinese.

Jastrow and I are working on autotranslating {{Meta information museum}}, the meta-template we use for many museums, like {{Information北京石刻艺术博物馆}}. Could you please help us find Chinese translations for every tag name:

   * artist/maker
   * description
   * dimensions
   * credit line
   * accession number
   * location
   * source/photographer
   * references
   * other versions

"Credit line" is mainly about the mode of acquisition: what collection does it come from? Did it join the collections by gift, purchase, on loan, etc.?

Thanks a lot for your answer. "References" is used to cite scientific articles or studies where the object is described and analyzed; it is used for some specific purposes, when a whole kind of artwork is inventorized in independant publications—which is the case for Greek ceramics, see for example File:Andromeda BM E169.jpg.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

BU West Pictures and Fair Use

I see that my two BU West pictures have been deleted from Commons. I'd like to upload one to en.wikipedia under fair use (as the sign is outdated and the text not fully readable in my picture) and then several more in the future, from the backlog on my hard drive.

As a new file patroller, I assume you've come across other pictures that were deleted for similar reasons. Do you have any experience / tips with fair use files; if so, would you be able to guide me through the process on my first upload?

The uploader himself mentions "M?bius" as photographer which most likely refers to Walter M?bius as stated in the DR. Didn't you check the UBC wikilink I inserted in the picture or see the image's many categories? The University of British Columbia (UBC) is in Vancouver, Canada....where I'm based. The 2010 Winter Olympica was also held in Vancouver, Canada where we have full FOP for 3D art objects that are permanently installed. And this has been permanently installed on UBC campus for many years. I just now said in the picture that this object is in Vancouver, Canada because of your statement...but next time, please check the UBC (and now 'Vancouver') wikilink. UBC is in Canada, not the US. Well, I'm not so sure about that - I have no profesional understanding about photography, so I'm a bit reluctant in doing that for you. However it is extremely easy to nominate for featured photo on zhwiki. Please just do the following:

1. Go to w:zh:Wikipedia:特色圖片評選#create, replace the <xxxx> with a name that is appropriate. You can use the Chinese name of the article that image is being used. Just copy&paste. Create one for each file.
2. Fill out the template, the parameters are in English, it should be easy to understand. For caption, use the Chinese one if available. Title and caption can be the same. Do not add the prefix 'File:' in the image parameter.
3. Should there be anything you can't understand, use English and I'll translate it for you very soon.
4. Transclude the new page here, put your nomination at the top.

There are two possible outcomes. 1) Rename logos in Category:Wikipedia for World Heritage to follow Wikipedia for World Heritage logo xx.png naming scheme or 2) deleting it. Move could be done with User:CommonsDelinker/commands followed by an actual image move here on commons. Images like "Wiki AL French.png" would be moved to "Wikipedia for World Heritage logo fr.png" etc. This would replace the file on all wikis. Stewards help you in rename only on projects with no active Bureaucrats. English and Vietnamese Wikipedia surely have active bureaucrats so you need to request on their respective pages. m:Index_of_pages_where_renaming_can_be_requested will tell you where to go. Stewards can help you, for example, in renaming your account on angwiki. angwiki has no bureaucrat but you have 1 edit there.
